Our Mission:

To provide non-medical home care services to elderly and people with disabilities so they may stay in their homes for as long as possible.


Area HomeCare & Family Services, Inc. is a 503 c (3) non-profit organization that contracts with the State of New Hampshire to provide non-medical, home care services to the elderly and people with disabilities.  Presently, the Agency has two of the biggest contracts in the State and in FY2004 served 859 clients with over 120,000 hours of service.

The intent of the contract is to provide free service to financially eligible clients.  Please go to How to Apply for Services for more information about free services.

A majority of our funding comes from the contract with the state of New Hampshire through the Title XX and Title XIX programs, a mix of federal and state funds.  The Rockingham County government provides funding, as does the local United Way and the Portsmouth Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG).

Board of Directors:

The agency has a board of directors who meet monthly and are responsible for the overall operation and fiscal viability of the Agency.  Day to day operation come under the guidance of a president and chief executive officer and staff.
